The Sunday School meets during the Sunday Morning Worship Service. Presently there are 3 classes:
- Kindergarten Class – 3- 5 year olds meeting in Room 9
- 6,7 & 8 year olds class meeting in Room 8
- 9 years old and over meeting in the Parlour
There are also occasions when Open Sessions (For All) are held.
The Sunday School conducts two worship services each year: on Picnic Sunday in June and the White Gift Service in December. The children make ornaments for the sanctuary Christmas tree and place them on it the Sunday the tree is officially lit.
Last year a few members of the older class helped make the Advent and Thanksgiving Banners that hang in the sanctuary.
A supervised nursery for infants (less than 2 years old) is available on Sunday mornings from September – June.
Curriculum
The curriculum that is being used is Seasons of the Spirit. Seasons of the Spirit is a lectionary-based resource created by an international team of writers and editors representing denominations from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the USA, and the UK.
The vision is to provide God's people with lectionary-based, ecumenical resources that empower all ages to be transformed in Christ as they:
- explore meaning and mystery in the Bible;
- celebrate in worship, sacraments, education, and service;
- engage in ministries of love, justice, and witness;
- and live in inclusive communities of faith, shaped and led by the Holy Spirit.
Symbolism of the "Seasons of the Spirit" Logo
The outside circle surrounding the swirls represents the Holy One, God, our loving Creator in whom we have our being.
The three intertwining circles represent the intent of the curriculum – the integration of Worship, Learning, and Serving:
- The blue swirl, ending in a shape symbolizing wind, represents Worship, the movement of the Holy Spirit that flows inward, outward, and around our coming together.
- The green swirl, ending in a leaf shape, represents Learning and growing in faith, as we explore meaning and mystery in the Bible and are transformed in Christ.
- The orange swirl, ending in a hand shape, represents Serving, as we reach outward into the world, engaging in ministries of love, justice, and witness.
